Dr. Amir Chemist is a personal mission for me – it rings my soul, it reminds me of my mother, and it brings value to you.
After I learned I cannot trust even the “popular” brands in the industry, dermatologists, or amateur influencers, I realized there is a need to disclose facts and share information in a simple way rather than in complex scientific terms.
I have a goal to educate as many people as possible so they’re not just another number and user for skin & hair care brands. I want you to learn to choose the right product and skin/hair care routine for yourself.
After my mom experienced 2nd-degree burn in a kitchen fire in June 2020, I got into skincare to recover my mother’s face and beauty (Picture 1).
I was determined to recover my mother’s face and beauty.
In consultation with a dermatologist and plastic surgeon, we developed a plan for my mother. The plan was flawed as the experts told me the available formulations in the market were not formulated for efficacy but for exploiting customers.
This obstacle pushed me to rely on my chemistry knowledge. I teamed up with the dermatologist and formulated products with science-backed efficacy. My mom’s face recovered – this was a joy to celebrate! (Picture 2).
In the meantime, I started using skin and hair care products on my own face – cleansers, moisturizers, serums, toners, and sunscreens. I wanted to sustain healthy skin and avoid premature aging (aging is inevitable, duh!!)
However, I was not seeing any EFFECT!
Similar to my mother’s situation, I started to question the ingredients in products. I read – for months about skin/hair chemistry and interactions of the common ingredients with my body.
With the Dr Amir Chemist initiative, my mission is to educate YOU (NOT influence you). Hence, as the primary consumer, you make informed decisions before buying ANY skin or hair care products.
1. The skin & hair care industry is primarily FULL of SCAMs,
2. Dermatologists mostly LACK a solid understanding and care about getting a commission rather than supporting patients
3. Majority of online self-claimed influencers do NOT have any actual knowledge about skin or hair (~98% reviewed by Dr. Amir himself); like dermatologists, they care about commissions and promoting brands for a fee!
I support science-backed products (natural or synthetic; natural is just a marketing term!!!), honesty and transparency, and fair pricing.
I am Dr Amir Chemist, aka officially as Dr. Ali R. Rahimi.
I hold a B.S. in Chemistry from Minnesota State University and Ph.D. in coating and polymeric materials from North Dakota State University.
With nearly a decade of experience in the chemistry world, my experience covers from recycling plastics to formulating skincare, haircare, adhesives, and paints, to working as a materials scientist, toxicologist, and biocompatibility expert in the medical device industry, where I currently select the optimal human-compatible materials for various medical and cosmetic conditions.

My mother’s story led me to create Dr Amir Chemist LLC as a platform to share my knowledge with you, educate you, and support you on your skin and hair care journey.
Fun facts about me: I was born and raised in Afghanistan. I speak Persian, Dari, and Pashto fluently – this means I love poetry and can’t read enough of Rumi’s scripts. I dance bachata, salsa, and kizomba actively – this is my way of expressing my emotions when words cannot 🙂
Unlike many other online “experts”, I did not just start my online presence for fame, but it happened organically due to the sad incident which burned my mother’s face and upper body.
My educational and professional background well prepared me to help you on your skin and hair care journey.
With a Ph.D. in a chemistry-related field, the experience of 100s of skin and hair care formulations, and research in various academic and industrial positions, I am confident I am the sole person who can analyze products at their molecular level and inform you about their pros and cons without bias.
Additionally, I am not sponsored by ANY skin or hair care product company. I have no intention of being sponsored at this moment as well. My loyalty lies to you, to me, and to my mother, as the consumers.
